The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a national-level medical entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses in India. The Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) organizes the Uttar Pradesh NEET UG 2024 Counselling. Every counselling is organized by (DMET) Lucknow, also known as UPDGME, which conducts the counselling session for UP MBBS & BDS admissions in 2024. Students are advised to read this article thoroughly as the scorecard of NEET-UG will be accepted by the various government and private medical and dental institutions of Uttar Pradesh through UP MBBS & BDS counselling 2024.

Eligibility Criteria

  • he applying seekers should have qualified for the NEET Entrance Examination.
  • Aspirants must have the domicile of Uttar Pradesh.
  • The applicants must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Biotechnology. English are a compulsory subject with a minimum of 50% marks. 40% marks are required for SC/ST category candidates, and 45% marks are needed for Physically Handicap candidates.
  • Age Criteria: The candidate should have completed 17 years as of 31-12-2024.
    The candidates born on or after 02-01-2004 are not eligible for MBBS or BDS Courses admission.

How to apply

Step 1 – Registration

Qualified candidates who wish to participate in the UPNEET Counselling 2024 must register themselves by visiting the official website of upneet i.e. https://upneet.gov.in. Some of the important points are:

  • Candidates must register only once for the UP NEET 2024 Counselling process.
  • No other registration should be done for the other two rounds of the counselling.
  • For successful registration, candidates must also process the payment of INR 2000 as counselling registration fee. This registration fee can be paid via any online mode such as Credit Card/Debit Card/ NET Banking.

Step 2 – Payment of Security Money

Security Money – After the successful completion of registration process, candidates will have to pay the security deposit or security money. This security money is refundable. Candidates can make the payment of security money via Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Director General, Medical Education and Training, Uttar Pradesh” payable at Lucknow. The amount of security money will differ as per candidates' preference applying for private and government medical colleges. It will also differ in case candidates are applying for dental courses. The table given below is the explanation on the security money deposit. 

Step 3 – Verification of Documents

After the successful completion of Registration and Payment of Security Money, candidates applying for admission must report to the nodal centres for the Verification of Documents. In case any candidate fails to do so in the given time period, they might lose their chance of admission and their seat will be given to another candidate. After the successful verification of the documents, candidates will be able to move forward to the next stage of UP NEET Counselling.

Step 4 – Choice Filling and Seat Locking

After all the documents are verified, candidates must log in on the official website of UP MBBS Counselling and mark their preference of colleges in order. The most preferred college must be chosen first and given priority. Below mentioned is the step-by-step procedure of choice filling and seat locking in the UP NEET 2024 Counselling:

  • Login – Log in using the NEET Roll Number and Password. While logging in, candidates will receive and OTP on their registered mobile number.
  • Choice Filling – Choose the preferred medical colleges as per your preference from the list of colleges displayed on the screen. Candidates must check all the college related information such as fee structure. Save the colleges selected.
  • Lock the Options – Lock the choices made by you and submit them before the deadline arrives. Those who fail to submit their final choices will not be considered for NEET Uttar Pradesh Counselling 2024.
  • List of Seat Allotment – After the preference of candidates submitted, DMET will review and go through all the applications and form and release the merit list or seat allotment list for candidates who have applied for the admission.
  • Reporting to the College Allotted – Candidates who are happy with the seat allotment process and wish to continue with the seat allotted to them during the UPNEET Counselling 2024  must report to the college allotted to them. They must also report to the college before the last date arrives. They must also carry their documents
