West Bengal MBBS Colleges 2026: Updated Seats, Fees & Quota

WBMCC has released the official list of participating institutions for West Bengal NEET UG Medical & Dental Counselling 2026. For MBBS candidates, the list currently includes 41 medical colleges — 1 Central Government, 24 State Government and 16 Private Medical Colleges.

The MBBS intake shown below is the NMC-approved annual intake for Academic Year 2026–27 as reflected in the NMC seat matrix issued on 14 July 2026 (matrix position as on 13 July 2026). These figures should not be confused with the number of seats available through WBMCC in a particular counselling round.

WBMCC confirms that it conducts counselling for State Quota seats in Government Medical Colleges and State Quota, Management Quota and NRI Quota seats in Private Medical Colleges. WBMCC states that 85% State Quota UG seats are allotted through state-level counselling.

Important: Exact college-wise and category-wise Round 1 WBMCC seat availability will be known only from the official Round 1 seat matrix scheduled for 19 August 2026 after 12 Noon.

Government Medical Colleges in West Bengal 2026 – Seats, Quota & Fee Status

The college participation status is based on WBMCC's official 2026 participating-institute list, while the annual intake figures are based on NMC's 2026–27 MBBS seat matrix.

Important Note on Government College Quota

For State Government medical colleges, WBMCC states that 85% State Quota UG seats are allotted through state-level counselling. Candidates should not simply calculate 85% of the NMC intake and treat that calculation as the official Round 1 seat matrix; category reservation, institutional rules and the officially published matrix must be followed.

Private Medical Colleges in West Bengal 2026 – Seats, Quota & Fees

These 16 private medical colleges appear in WBMCC's official 2026 participating-institute list. NMC's 2026–27 seat matrix is used for the approved annual intake shown above.

NMC's 2026–27 matrix also reflects several seat increases, including increases at institutions such as ICARE, Krishnanagar Institute of Medical Sciences, Raniganj Institute of Medical Science and PKG Medical College.

Important Fee Update for West Bengal Private Medical Colleges 2026

TAB India Accuracy Note: A college's security deposit, previous-year tuition fee and 2026–27 tuition fee are three different things.

As of 18 August 2026, the current WBMCC UG Medical & Dental Notice & Events section does not list a separate 2026–27 private medical college tuition-fee notification. Therefore, TAB India should not publish unofficial portal figures as confirmed 2026–27 fees.

WBMCC's archive does contain an official fee notification for the academic session 2025–26, issued by the Government of West Bengal after approval of the Permanent Fee Fixation Committee. Because the notification explicitly says 2025–26, these figures must not be labelled as confirmed 2026–27 fees.

Latest Official Previous-Session Fees Available for Three Newer Private Colleges

These figures come directly from the Government of West Bengal fee notification dated 12 February 2026, but the document specifically identifies them as fees for academic session 2025–26. They are included here only as previous-session official reference figures and must not be represented as confirmed 2026–27 fees.

State Quota vs Management Quota vs NRI Quota in West Bengal Private Medical Colleges

State Quota

Eligible candidates satisfying the applicable WBMCC requirements can compete for Private Medical College State Quota seats.

The exact number of State Quota seats available in each private medical college should be taken from the relevant WBMCC 2026 seat matrix.

Management Quota

Private medical colleges also participate for Management Quota seats through WBMCC counselling.

West Bengal domicile is not required for eligible Management Quota participation under the applicable WBMCC registration rules.

NRI Quota

WBMCC also conducts counselling for NRI Quota seats in private medical colleges.

However, candidates should not assume that every private college has the same number of NRI seats. College-wise NRI availability must be confirmed from the official WBMCC seat matrix for the relevant round.

NMC Approved Seats vs WBMCC Counselling Seats – Know the Difference

This distinction is extremely important for NEET UG candidates.

NMC Approved MBBS Intake

This is the total annual MBBS intake approved by NMC for a medical college.

For example, if a college has an NMC intake of 250 MBBS seats, it does not automatically mean that all 250 seats will appear as one quota in WBMCC Round 1.

WBMCC Seat Matrix

The WBMCC seat matrix tells candidates the actual seats being offered through the counselling round, including applicable:

• State Quota seats

• Management Quota seats

• NRI Quota seats

• UR seats

• EWS seats

• SC seats

• ST seats

• OBC/OBC-A/OBC-B seats

• PwD seats

• Other applicable seat classifications

Therefore:

NMC Approved Intake ≠ WBMCC Round 1 Available Seats

Candidates should always use the official WBMCC seat matrix when preparing their final choice list.

When Will Exact West Bengal MBBS Quota-Wise Seats Be Available?

According to the official West Bengal NEET UG 2026 Round 1 schedule, WBMCC is scheduled to publish the:

Round 1 Seat Matrix — 19 August 2026 after 12 Noon

Choice filling is scheduled to begin later the same day at 4:00 PM.

Once the seat matrix is published, the college table in this article should be updated with:

College Name → NMC Intake → State Quota Seats → Management Quota Seats → NRI Seats → Category-wise Seats

Until that official matrix is released, publishing estimated quota-wise seat numbers should be avoided.
