West Bengal NEET UG 2026 Counselling Information Bulletin

The Directorate of Medical Education, Government of West Bengal has released the Notice-cum-Information Bulletin for NEET UG 2026 Medical and Dental Counselling.

The bulletin contains the eligibility criteria, registration process, document requirements, choice filling rules, security deposit provisions and round-wise counselling procedure for MBBS and BDS seats under West Bengal State Quota, Private College Management Quota and NRI Quota.

West Bengal State Quota Eligibility

Candidates seeking admission under West Bengal State Quota must fulfil the applicable domicile requirements. Either the candidate or his/her parent must satisfy the prescribed West Bengal domicile conditions.

The bulletin specifies domicile certificate Proforma A1, A2 and B along with the authorities authorised to certify the applicable domicile documents.

A valid domicile certificate obtained through the West Bengal e-District portal is also accepted, subject to the prescribed conditions.

Private College Management Quota

NEET UG 2026 qualified candidates can participate for Management Quota seats in Private Medical and Dental Colleges in West Bengal subject to the applicable qualifying criteria.

West Bengal domicile is not mandatory for Private College Management Quota seats. However, Management Quota allotment is based on the combined merit rank of NEET UG 2026 and there is no caste or PwD reservation in Management Quota seats.

Security Deposit for Private College Choices

  • Private College State Quota seats: Rs. 2,00,000 security deposit
  • Private College Management Quota seats: Rs. 5,00,000 security deposit

The prescribed security deposit must be paid before candidates can fill choices for the respective private college quota seats.

The security deposit may be adjusted against the course fee after allotment or refunded after completion of the counselling process in eligible cases. The bulletin also specifies circumstances in which the security deposit may be forfeited.

NRI Quota

NRI Quota seats in Private Medical Colleges will also be filled through online counselling conducted by WBMCC.

Candidates opting for NRI Quota cannot simultaneously opt for State Quota or Management Quota seats. Similarly, candidates opting for State Quota or Management Quota cannot opt for NRI Quota.

Candidates claiming NRI Quota seats must fulfil the applicable NRI eligibility and documentation requirements.

For NRI candidates, the bulletin provides for online registration, fee payment, choice filling, choice locking and seat allotment, followed by physical verification of original documents at the admission stage.

PwD Eligibility and Verification

Candidates claiming PwD status must fulfil the applicable eligibility criteria relating to the specified benchmark disabilities.

PwD status must be verified through NRS Medical College, Kolkata or another Medical Assessment Centre designated by MCC, New Delhi. Certificates from institutions other than MCC-designated centres will not be considered for PwD eligibility in West Bengal NEET UG 2026 counselling.

Counselling Registration Fee

  • Unreserved candidates: Rs. 2,000
  • SC/ST/OBC/PwD/EWS candidates: Rs. 1,500

The online counselling registration fee is non-refundable.

Candidate Profile Letter and Document Verification

After successful registration and payment, candidates must generate their Candidate Profile Letter. The document verification venue, date and time will be mentioned in the Candidate Profile Letter.

Candidates required to undergo physical document verification must carry the Candidate Profile Letter, payment receipt, original documents and the required self-attested photocopies.

  • Applicable caste/EWS certificate
  • NEET UG 2026 Admit Card
  • NEET UG 2026 Rank Card

  • Class 10+2 marksheet
  • Medical fitness certificate

Choice Filling and Choice Locking

Only successfully registered and verified candidates will be able to participate in choice filling, subject to the applicable quota rules.

Candidates should arrange their choices carefully in the order of preference. The allotment software processes choices from the first preference downward according to the candidate's inter-se merit and applicable seat matrix.

Candidates must save and lock their choices. Once choices are locked, they cannot be changed. Where saved choices are not manually locked within the prescribed period, the system may auto-lock them after the choice-locking period ends.

Seat Allotment and Final Verification

Seat allotment will be based on inter-se merit, category, PwD status, quota eligibility and the choices submitted by the candidate.

Allotment is provisional and allotted candidates must undergo another round of physical document verification at the allotted college before admission.

A candidate who does not report to the allotted college with the required original documents and college fee within the stipulated period will be treated as a non-reported candidate.

Round-wise Counselling

The bulletin provides detailed rules for:

  • Round 1
  • Round 2
  • Round 3
  • Online Stray Vacancy Round

Fresh registration is permitted in certain subsequent rounds for eligible candidates, subject to the conditions prescribed in the counselling bulletin.

Round-wise rules regarding non-reporting, willingness for upgradation, fresh choice filling, security deposit, seat surrender and eligibility for subsequent rounds must be carefully followed.

Round 3 Seat Conversion Rules

The bulletin specifies the following conversion sequence for vacant seats in Round 3:

  • UR PwD to UR
  • EWS PwD to EWS
  • SC PwD to SC
  • ST PwD to ST
  • OBC PwD to OBC
  • SC to ST and vice versa
  • EWS to UR

Conversion of SC/ST seats to UR and OBC seats to UR is not permitted without the required permission of the Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal.
